How to add/customize a language

Languages in Cod2Doc

All the words appearing in the documentation generated by Cod2Doc could be changed. Example of such words in the default english file are "Description:", "Global variables", "Last update", ... They can be changed by editing the language file.

All language files are inside the Languages\ directory located in the directory where was installed Cod2Doc. They should have the .txt extension to be taken into account by Cod2Doc. They consist of several lines containing a word or a sentence used in the documentation. A line starting with a star "*" is considered as a comment.

To change or modify these files, you should keep unmodified the first column of this file. The order of text inside the file is of no importance. Refer to the original english language file to check the format of the file.

If you have modified or created a language file, then simply put this .txt file in the Languages\ directory. Cod2Doc, at the next restart, will automatically recognize it and list it in the Language section of the main window.

Special case:
In the top of the documentation is the mini-index. In this mini-index, there is a link to the printable page (if frame mode is set). In the language file, you can of course change the text of this link (for example: Printable page). But you have also the possibility to include a clickable icon (a printer) instead of the text: you just have to add before the text a #. The text after the # will be taken as the tooltip of the icon.

Character encoding:
It's also possible to change the character encoding of the pages generated by Cod2Doc. It may be useful for example in case of cyrillic, japanese or other non-occidental languages. The character encoding is actually defined in the language file: you just have to put the encoding you wish!

Contribute to Cod2Doc

If you have translated the language file in your own language and would like to share it with other Cod2Doc users, then please contribute! You will be mentioned in the credit of Cod2Doc.
Send the new language file to repeatuntil@free.fr. Please try to avoid mistakes in the spelling of words ;)
